Marshall McLean is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with U.S. Trust in New York. Marshall works with a select group of clients who have sophisticated financial needs. He provides guidance to owners of closely-held businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, and their family members, designing strategies and initiatives that reflect their unique goals, challenges, and aspirations.

Marshall assembles and leads a team of U.S. Trust® specialists, each of whom brings in-depth insight in a particular wealth discipline: investment management, trust and estate planning services, credit and lending, family office services, and philanthropy. An experienced team leader, Marshall is skilled in leveraging the talents of the broader enterprise to help advance tailored objectives.

Prior to joining U.S. Trust, Marshall served as a corporate transactional attorney, navigating critical transitions on behalf of business owners and their families. He is experienced in multiple aspects of the corporate lifecycle, including the sale or transfer of multi-generational businesses, succession strategies, and wealth transfer initiatives. His previous firms include McCarter & English in Newark and Reed Smith in Princeton and Manhattan. 

Marshall earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law where he was Lead Article Editor for the Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice.  He received his B.A. from Bowdoin College, where he was captain of the lacrosse team.  

Marshall serves on a number of nonprofit boards including the Greater Newark LifeCamp, the Newark Museum, the Land Conservancy of New Jersey, and the Somerset Hills Country Club.  He is also board president for GRID Alternatives New York Tri-State, an organization that brings solar technologies to underserved communities throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
